After a freshly built copter’s first test flight, it’s a good idea to check the vibration characteristics using a Blackbox log. This allows you to adjust the filters if needed and improve flight behavior. If you’ve set up the Blackbox as described, you can start right away.

For this log, you want to capture all possible vibrations, which means the copter should be flown at high power. The best place is a freshly mown field. Use a fully charged battery and perform the following maneuvers:

  1. Arm the copter and hover for 15–20 seconds. Keep the height steady and try to stay in one spot.
  2. 3–4 throttle sweeps: Over about 3 seconds, move the throttle stick from hover to full throttle slowly and hold briefly at full power.
  3. Move the copter on all axes: Roll, flip, and yaw multiple times.
  4. Test propwash handling: Accelerate strongly in one direction, yaw quickly, then accelerate at full power in the opposite direction.

After the flight, land the drone safely, remove the battery, and transfer the log file to your PC.
