Like the Betaflight Configurator, Blackbox Explorer can now also be used online and saved for offline use as a Chrome app. You can access it at blackbox.betaflight.com. Click the Open Log/File button to open your log file.

First, clean up the data fields: click Graph Setup at the bottom right and then Remove all Graphs in the window that appears. Next, click Add Graph and select Gyros and unfiltered Gyros, then close the window by clicking Apply Changes.

To exclude vibrations caused by takeoff or landing, you can trim the log at the bottom. Drag the slider to a point where the copter is already in the air and press I on your keyboard. Do the same at the end of the log, just before landing, and press O.

In the right column (Legend), you can select which axis to display, either before or after filtering. Once you select a gyro axis, the vibration characteristics appear in the bottom-left graph. You can enlarge this graph using the button in the top-right. Start by checking Gyro unfiltered pitch and roll.

You may see spikes reaching the red area on the left side of the graph. This is normal—these low-frequency spikes reflect your stick inputs or general copter movement. However, above 15–30 Hz, there should be no red or even yellow spikes. Minor peaks in green or light green before filtering are fine, but after filtering, they should no longer appear. The filters are designed to remove these peaks.

For a general check of your filter settings and copter build quality, it’s enough to look at all three axes before and after filtering.

Here are examples:

  1. Pre-filter graph: The vibration pattern is completely normal.

Post-filter graph: The lower-end green peaks have mostly disappeared, showing the filters are working.

Problem case: Notice the peak around 30–35 Hz. This shouldn’t appear during hover and is caused by frame or component resonance, not propwash. Green spikes stretching to the right also indicate excessive vibration. Post-filter, this copter can still fly safely but has room for improvement with better filter settings.

Blackbox Explorer can show more than just vibrations. Through Graph Setup, you can display many other values and track them over the flight, such as:
